So far, everyone who has come back with results has noted an improvement, most finding they are stable at the same clocks with 0.02v less voltage, and some even finding they can safely push their CPU further than they ever could before. Regrettably, the currently obtainable AMI Aptio Sixth is v MMTool v5.0.0.7 provides difficulties with the up-date of specific BIOS segments of the latest Intel chipset mainboards. Updating is easy and reversible, I’d recommend any active Haswell owners to try this out, because free headroom! :) ![]() This is an entirely reproducible phenomenon for me, and others with different motherboards and Haswell CPUs have noticed improvements too, of varying amounts. ![]() Reverting my microcode from the latest version 22 (released in early 2017) to my motherboard’s stock microcode (19) meant that 4.8GHz needed 1.34v to be stable-ish, and 4.9GHz crashed instantly on stress testing at 1.36v. On average the improvement is looking closer to 0.02v, it depends on how stable the overclock was to begin with. It also got me stable with 4.9 at 1.36v, and even got 5GHz within stable reach. This let me run 4.8GHz at 1.3v, where before I was running 4.7GHz at that voltage. I recently discovered that by updating my Haswell system’s BIOS with intel’s latest microcode, I got a ~0.04v reduction in required voltage.
